| This was my first attempt at more serious matte painting. It took me about 4 days to complete. First I did a mockup model of the city and tower in 3dsmax. Taking this render into Photoshop, with some basic texturing applied, I started to paint on top of it and adding photos to complete the image. After 2 days I had completed the image of the city with the mountains in the background. Seeing it like this, I thought that it would look much better if there was a larger landscape to behold, so I stretched the canvas about 3 times what I had and started to paint the overall background, which took another day. The last day was used for refining of the whole painting and making the animation you can find below. This was done with simple camera projection techniques on top of simple 3d geometry. In the end, Pedro Camacho, did a great job adding the sfx and music. A special thanks to him. |
